Christmas came early for two charities after a festive lunch hosted by Provost Una Walker proved a great success.
The recent glittering Provost’s Ladies’ Lunch raised over £3,000 to be split between St Margaret of Scotland Hospice and Cash for Kids.
Over 130 ladies attended the event at Oregano in Bishopbriggs, which was attended by East Dunbartonshire Provost Una Walker.
As well as a delicious lunch, there were games, raffles and auctions, and ladies had a chance to start their Christmas shopping at the many stalls selling handbags, jewellery, cards and gifts.
Provost Walker said: “I am so delighted we managed to raise such a lot of money and smash last year’s total.
“The event was a great success - thanks to all the ladies who bought tickets and came along.
“Thanks also go to Robert Wilson for compering and Scarlett Hart for her up-beat performance during lunch. Musicians from Bearsden Academy also added a real touch of class to proceedings, welcoming guests with a classical music extravaganza.
“You know it’s been a great day when people start asking you to remember them when we’re planning the 2016 lunch and that’s just what happened on Sunday. I know that these events take a lot of organising and thanks too must go to the staff and management of the Eagle Lodge and to the local businesses who contributed raffle prizes.
“Many thanks once again to all involved and hope to see you again next year!”
