A SHOPPING centre car park which has become blighted by deep potholes is set for a much-needed New Year makeover.

The Herald has received several complaints about the state of the car park at Millersneuk Shopping Centre, in Lenzie.

Of particular concern is a huge hole at the entrance to the car park which has become increasingly difficult to avoid in recent weeks.

One motorist said: “I’m simply going to have to stop using the shopping centre now because the car park is in such bad order.

“I’ve already damaged a wheel on the pothole at the entrance and it’s still getting worse.

“Soon it will make the car park completely inaccessible.

“More worryingly, if somebody who wasn’t aware of the hole drove into the carpark at night they could do serious damage to their car or even themselves.

“The shops really need to get this sorted out or they’ll lose all their customers.”

Rahul Randev, who co-owns three of the units in the centre, said that the business owners had now agreed to carry out the repairs.

He said: “We can only apologise to our customers and the local people for this problem. We have finally reached an agreement.

“The work was supposed to start at the beginning of December, but had to be put back because of the weather.

“We have been told by the contractors that work will now start in the coming days.”

He added: “In April or May of this year we will be carrying out out a whole refurbishment of the centre with monoblocked pathways, planting of shrubs and returfing.

“We would like to thank our customers for their patience over this period.”
