People thronged to a very sunny and hugely successful Gala Day at Lenzie Rugby Club field recently.
According to the community council, who organise the annual event, this year’s gala was bigger and better than ever.
Gala queen Sophie Stewart of Lenzie Primary School carried out her duties to perfection, ably assisted by page boy Viggo McLeod and Maid of Honour Catriona Maguire from Holy Family Primary School, Arden Murdoch from Lenzie Moss and Valencia Wright from Millersneuk Primary School.
Community convenor Tony Miles said: “This year’s gala was bigger and better than any year before thanks to the tremendous support from our business sponsors.
“Without them it would have been impossible to stage the event.
“There were more than 20 trader and charity stalls, a Marie Curie tea tent, as well as the Scouts and Boys Brigade, Lenzie churches and Lenzie Tennis Club all taking part.
“The parade this year excelled all others, with a fantastic turn-out stretching from the station to the gala field.”
This year’s gala theme was ‘Schools Old and New’, recognising the closure of Lenzie Primary and Lenzie Moss Schools, and the opening of the new Lenzie Meadow joint campus.
Maureen Gilmore, a pupil at the old Lenzie Academy, crowned the Gala Queen and gave out the race prizes.
