Organisers have been forced to cancel Lenzie Gala Day for public safety reasons.
The popular annual event was due to be held tomorrow, Saturday, June 6, at Lenzie Rugby Club’s Viewfield ground, but organisers made the decision on Friday to call off the event following a severe weather forecast.
The event is organised each year by Lenzie Community Council.
A spokesperson said: “In view of high winds and heavy rain forecast for tomorrow (Saturday, June 6) we decided it would not be safe to let people put up tents and gazebos on the Lenzie Rugby Club pitch.
“So with great reluctance we have decided to postpone the entire gala until Saturday 15 August, which is the last weekend before the kids go back to school.
“June is so crowded with other events and July really is the major holiday month in Scotland, so we thought the best idea would be to leave it until the middle of August.
“We have been trying all Friday afternoon to source an indoor venue (one of the schools) which would have enabled us to go ahead, but could not get it organised at such short notice.”
