Lenzie is lighting up for Christmas with plenty of festive fun on offer for all the family.
On Saturday, December 6, the people of Lenzie will enjoy the Christmas lights switch on, carried out by the 2014 Gala Queen, Emily Dick, formerly of Holy Family Primary School.
But before that there will be carols in front of Lenzie Old Parish Church from 5 p.m. and all Lenzie residents are invited to come along and join in.
Kirkintilloch Kelvin Brass will be providing the music and the Lenzie Christian Fellowship will be there to help with the singing, to make sure the crowds manage a really rousing rendition of all their favourite carols.
To ensure everyone is feeling festive in the run up to Christmas, organisers have arranged for a very special visitor to appear, who is bound to be a huge hit with children.
They will be joined in person by Father Christmas, who has promised to arrive in good time for the official switching on of the Christmas lights at 5.30 p.m. prompt. It’s definitely a family evening out not to be missed!
After the official proceedings, refreshments will be available in the church hall. Everyone is most welcome to come along and warm up with some tea or coffee to round off one of the seasonal highlight’s of the year.
A spokesman for the organisers said: ‘‘Lenzie Community Council hopes lots of people will come along and join in the fun on this important day for our community.
‘‘It goes without saying that we are very grateful to East Dunbartonshire Council for their continuing support for this event – so popular with Lenzie children and adults alike – in these difficult economic times.’’
