LENZIE Post Office will have its opening hours extended by more than 60 hours a week if plans to relocate go-ahead.

The Post Office is consulting on the proposal to move the branch from Kirkintilloch Road to the Scotmid Co-op’s Morning, Noon and Night store, in Gallowhill Road.

Post Office chiefs say the move will create a modern, open-plan branch that is open from early until late, seven days a week.

Residents can have their say during a six-week consultation.

Sue Richardson, Post Office regional network manager for Scotland and north England, said: “We understand how important having a post office is to residents in Lenzie and we are confident that this new modern branch will make it easier for our customers to do business with us and also secure services for the future.”

Opening hours at the proposed new location will be Monday to Friday, 6.30am to 10pm, and Saturday and Sunday, 7am to 10pm.

The Post Office is welcoming feedback on any issues customers would like considered before a final decision is taken on the proposal.

The consultation will close on May 17.
