A main road from Lenzie to Chryston will remain closed until the end of the month because of roadworks ahead of the Commonwealth Games time trial.

Lindsaybeg Road was closed yesterday (Monday) to motorists to allow essential road resurfacing work to be carried out and replacement of the kerbs.

Lindsaybeg Road will be closed between Peathill Avenue and Burnbrae Road and Peathill Avenue will be closed between Lindsaybeg Road and Lanrig Road.

A spokesperson for North Lanarkshire Council said: “The road will form part of the route for the Commonwealth Games time trial and the council is taking the opportunity to carry out the work now, as part of its roads maintenance programme.

“Signs have been placed at the location in advance of the works to advise drivers and diversions will be in place throughout the work.”

The council has issued alternative routes for drivers and the road is expected to reopen on February 1.
