It’s been reported that police investigating the disappearance of Irish student Karen Buckley have detained a 21-year-old man.

Earlier today Police Scotland cordoned off High Craigton Farm, on the outskirts of Milngavie, as the investigation continued.

It has also been reported that police are following a definite line of inquiry.

Karen (24), from Cork in Ireland, was last seen walking away from a nightclub in Glasgow’s West End just after 1am on Sunday after talking to a man outside.

The Glasgow Caledonian University student had been at Sanctuary nightclub on Dumbarton Road in Partick from about 11.45pm on Saturday night.

At about 1am she told friends she was going to the toilet but she didn’t come back and didn’t pick up her jacket.

CCTV cameras captured images of her talking to a man outside the club, then she left and walked towards Church Street.

She went, consensually, with a man to a flat in Dorchester Avenue, Kelvindale, and left at around 4am alone.

Police have mounted a full scale search operation. They are keen to trace the driver of a grey/silver car which was seen in country roads between Milngavie and Drymen between 11am and 3pm on Monday.

They have asked members of the public with any information - no matter how insignificant it may seem -to contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Miss Buckley moved to Glasgow earlier this year and was a studying occupational therapy at Glasgow Caledonian University.

Her parents have flown over from Ireland.

Police were still at the farm late on Wednesday night.
