Margo (77) appeals for good neighbours in Carstairs

LIVING in the same home for almost all her 77 years, Miss Margo Gibson has seen neighbours, good and bad, come and go over the decades.

Now, however, the major problem in her life is having NO neighbours at all!

In fact, it has been around three years since anyone lived in the house adjoining her single bedroom council maisionette on Lanark Road, Carstairs and this is causing her endless worries.

Coming to the Gazette for help having exhausted all official avenues, she outlined her dilemma to us.

“The house ‘through the wall’ being empty for so long, it’s really badly affecting my home now,” Margo said.

“There’s damp coming through and it is costing me a fortune to heat my place because there’s been no heating on next door for years now.”

She is hoping the council will purchase the neighbouring house from owner Alex Boyce, who has tried valiantly to sell it – to no avail.
