A DECISION will be made on plans to build a new primary school in Kirkintilloch by July.

East Dunbartonshire Council wants to create a new Lairdsland Primary next to Southbank Marina, in Kirkintilloch.

Education Scotland has provided the council with their independent report focused on the educational benefits of the proposal.

This, along with the council’s own report about the consultation, was due to be made available this week.

The new school is estimated to cost nearly £5million.

Further representations can still be made to the council before May 8.

Gordon Currie, Head of Education said, “This consultation demonstrates the Council’s commitment to improving the school estate.”
