A BRAVE grandad braved a Boxing Day dip in the freezing Firth of Clyde to raise vital funds for charity.
William McNiff (81) took part in ‘Dip with a Nip’ at Prestwick and raised £160 for the CLIC Sargent Scotland charity.
The organisation offers care and support for children with cancer and their families.
William, from Kirkintilloch, joined nearly 400 others for the annual challenge.
He has taken part in the event several times and is one of the oldest participants.
The former paratrooper and boxer said: “There were tremendous waves, making it impossible to swim.
“Most people go in for a quick splash about, but I always like to swim.”
William (pictured) was also due to take part in the New Year’s Day dip in the Gareloch, near Rhu, for the 15th time. The annual event raises money for the Lifeboat Fund.
