OFFICERS have netted a man suspected of shoplifting a large quantity of fish.

The 30-year-old has been charged with attempting to steal an amazing £100-worth of salmon from the Sainsbury’s supermarket, in Kirkintilloch town centre.

The fishy crime took place at around 11.15am on Sunday, April 3, and police have submitted a report to the procurator fiscal.

Meanwhile, a pensioner suffered a traumatic experience after waking up to find an intruder in her bedroom.

Police say the raider fled empty-handed after being discovered by the elderly lady in her house, in Kirkintilloch’s Bothlyn Avenue, at around 6.20am on Thursday.
