Pensioner beaten up as he tried to stop fight

POLICE have made an arrest after an attack on a 72-year-old peacemaker.

The pensioner had been trying to break up a fight outside his house in Bridgeburn Drive, Chryston, when he was struck about the head.

Police have arrested a 20-year-old man in connection with the alleged assault.

The Glasgow man was arrested on Friday and released from police custody pending a court appearance for alleged assault and disorder offences.

Meanwhile, two teenagers have been arrested after being discovered in a garden in Chryston.

A 14-year-old from Chryston and his 15-year-old friend from Muirhead were arrested at 9.30pm on Thursday, September 22.

They have been released from police custody pending a report to the Children’s Reporter.

In other news, police arrested a 29-year-old man after he was allegedly found with a small quantity of cannabis.

The man from Chryston was detected in the Stepps area on Monday, September 26.

He was released from custody pending an appearance in court.
