The Festival has launched its Green Shoots Photo Contest - A Year in Lockdown.

The competition has been set up to gather up collective insights into life during lockdown and will culminate in a public gallery of winning entries, shortlisted by local creatives and confirmed by a public vote.

Judge and local photographer Lindsey Parker says: We are encouraging all ages to get out their phones and laptops and select images that capture the experiences of the last year.

"We have three categories - Our Town in Lockdown, Discovery and Home Entertainment.

"Already we are seeing fun, imaginative and poignant entries coming in, from garden projects to stunning views from the Campsie Hills.

"It’s a fantastic community project that will record this strangest of times.”

Trish Robertson, Chair of the Bearsden Festival added: “We liked the idea of creating a memory bank of lockdown for our Green Shoots programme, which is all about hope for recovery.

"The images will be shown during Mental Health Awareness Week in May when we have lots of other activities around wellbeing and nature.

"No matter how amateur, everyone has a memory to share and we encourage everyone to enter by the deadline of midnight on 30 April.”

Lindsey has been producing photography tips along with the competition which can be found on the festival’s social media @bearsdenfest.

The three themes as described on the festival’s website.

Our Town: What changes and new perspectives did you notice around Bearsden?

Discovery: Did you discover walking routes and views, a love of nature, or did a pet or baby arrive to change your world?

Home Entertainment: What imaginative ways did you find to ease the boredom and keep yourself and those around you amused and connected?
