Get set for Allander Rotary’s online Santa race

Ready, steady Santa! With Covid putting paid to festivities, including Santa’s Grotto at Milngavie Youth Centre,
Allander Rotary has been looking for an alternative activity – and help children’s charities at the same time.

After positive feedback from the recent online Duck Races, the club will be running Santa Races online. There will be races for children and adults with prizes to suit each category. Adult races will feature Snowmen instead of Santas.

A spokesperson from the club said: “This will be a fun event but at the same time, the Rotary Club is looking to raise funds for charities, mainly children’s ones, including ED Young Carers, CHAS, Kidney Kids Scotland and Beatson Cancer Charity.”

Entry has been reduced to only 50p and there are also bonus entries – spend £2 and get five entries, spend £5 and get 15 entries.

Full details of how to buy tickets and the prizes will be on Allander’s website at www.allander-rotary.org or email [email protected]

Similar to the Duck Race, they will tag each Santa with the entrant’s name.

A maximum of 50 Santas will run in each race with the top five winning through to the semi-finals. As with the Duck Race, there will also be a lucky loser draw.

All of the races will be run on Sunday, December 19. Entry close at midnight on Saturday December 18. Race times will be advertised on Allander’s Facebook and Twitter pages ahead of the races. All races will be available on Allander’s YouTube channel from Sunday 19th onwards.

The club hope to get as many prizes as possible. If anyone wishes to donate, contact the club at [email protected].
