Kirkintilloch Male Voice Choir celebrate centenary in style across the globe
Kirkintilloch Male Voice Choir have celebrated their 100th birthday with a virtual concert beamed across the world.
Viewers from North America to Australia throughout the Middle East and Europe tuned in to see and hear the renowned East Dunbartonshire choir mark a century of song.
Sally McLennan, the choir’s musical director, said: “ We realised months ago that because of Covid we would not be able to have a ‘ live’ annual concert.
"So, last year, with Zoom rehearsals we prepared to go virtual.
“We’ve been absolutely delighted with the results. It was – as one of the men said – virtually brilliant.”
The half hour concert is nearing 3,000 views on YouTube and has raised more than £3,000 for Glasgow Childrens Hospital Charity.
A spokesman for the charity said: “KMVC have supported the children for years. We wish them a happy 100th and thank them for all they do.”
The concert was filmed by Baby Grand Productions and highlights scenes from throughout East Dunbartonshire – all set to songs sung by KMVC.
