Police are appealing for witnesses after a young woman was sexually assaulted.

The attack happened in the Woodlands area of Glasgow on Tuesday, March 22.

The 19-year-old was walking at the junction of West End Park Street and West Prince’s Street around 11.20pm when she was approached by a man

He subjected her to a sexual assault then began shouting sexual remarks before making off in an unknown direction.

Officers described the man as in his 30s, with a heavy build and short to medium brown hair. At the time of the incident he was wearing black thin-rimmed glasses, a white long sleeved top and dark coloured trousers.

Detective Constable Graham Morrison said: “This incident took place in a residential area which is usually quiet at that time on a Tuesday night.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time who may have seen or heard anything suspicious to contact police.

“Officers are continuing with enquiries, examining CCTV footage and speaking to local residents. Sexual crimes will not be tolerated in our community.

“Anyone with information can contact officers on 101 or alternatively they can call CRIMESTOPPERS on 0800 555 111 where details can be given in confidence.”
