THE devastated family of a pensioner who died after being knocked down have spoken of their heartache.

Kenneth Craig (76) was walking in Hillhead Road, near to its junction with Auchinairn Road, in the Bishopbriggs/Robroyston area, when he was struck by a black Peugeot 307 travelling towards Robroyston.

Emergency services raced to his aid, but Mr Craig – from the Robroyston area – sadly died at the scene on Friday, October 26, at around 11.30am.

The 44-year-old driver of the Peugeot was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where he was treated for head injuries then later released.

In a statement, Mr Craig’s widow said: “My entire family are absolutely devastated by Kenneth’s death.

“He was a wonderful and loving husband and father, and we all miss him terribly.”

Sergeant Alan Thomson, of the Road Policing Unit in Kirkintilloch, said: “Despite previous appeals for witnesses, we have had very little response from members of the public.

“I would again urge any motorists and pedestrians who were on Hillhead Road around the time of the incident, and who may have witnessed the crash take place, or who may have information to come forward as a matter of urgency.”

A full report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Anyone with information on the tragic accident is asked to call the police on 0141 532 4440.
