Police officer injured in fireworks incident

A police officer narrowly avoided serious injury after being struck by a firework.

The incident happened at around 8.40pm last Wednesday (Guy Fawkes Night)in Cedar Road, Bishopbriggs.

Police were called to the area after several reports of youths setting off fireworks.

It’s alleged that when officers attended the disturbance the youths began aiming the fireworks at them.

One officer sustained minor injuries after being hit directly.

Four males, aged 16, 19 and two at 23 years of age were arrested in connection to the incident.
