Police plea after assault and robbery

A FEMALE cash collector was grabbed from her car and robbed of a four-figure sum of money during a terrifying attack in North Glasgow.

The 39-year-old agent for Provident Personal Credit was getting into her car in Broomfield Road, Balornock, when a man grabbed her from behind, threatened her and pulled her bag.

The suspect then ran off with the bag, which contained a four-figure sum of cash.

He was last seen running in Rye Road.

Police said the woman was left very distressed and suffered slight cuts.

She was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary and released a short time later.

The suspect is described as being white, around 5ft 7ins tall. He was wearing dark clothes and dirty white training shoes.

The ordeal took place on Monday, August 1, at around 7.30pm.

Police are continuing enquiries into the incident and have appealed for information.

Detective Constable Martin Conlan, from Baird Street CID, said: “I would appeal for witnesses to this incident or anyone who may have seen the suspect hanging around the area prior to the robbery taking place.
