Police are appealing for help to find a missing teenage girl who failed to turn up to her work in Kirkintilloch.

Paige Doherty (15), originally from Bishopbriggs, was last seen in Clydebank on Saturday morning.

She left a friend’s house at 8.15am to travel to work at a hairdressers shop in Kirkintilloch.

Police are becoming increasingly concerned about her welfare and say her family “are extremely worried.”.

The teenager has not been in touch with her friends since she disappeared and has also not been active on social media.

Officers say this is “very out of character”.

It was thought there may have been a CCTV sighting of Paige yesterday but her family confirmed, on Facebook last night that this was not Paige.

Friends and family members have been out searching and have taken to social media to help find the teenager.

She previously lived in the Bishopbriggs area and is known to spend time in Kirkintilloch.

Paige is described as 4ft 8inches, is slim and has long dark hair.

She was last seen wearing blue jeans, a white crop top, and a khaki coloured bomber jacket along with a short dark jacket with fur around the neck.

She was also wearing white trainers with a gold Nike logo on the side.

Sergeant Claire Taylor from Dumbarton Police Office said: “Paige has gone missing before but for her not to be in touch with any of her friends, or to be active on social media, is very out of character.

“She is known to spend time in the Kirkintilloch area and I would ask anyone with information on her whereabouts to get in touch with officers at Dumbarton Police Office on 101.

“I would also appeal to Paige to make contact with someone to let us know she is safe, her family are extremely worried and just want to know that she is okay.”
