£400,000 lottery boost for village’s new community project

A bumper lottery grant of £418,637 will help secure the future of a village community facility’s innovative training project for young people.

Twechar Community Action, who are based in the village’s health living and enterprise centre, received the good news recently from Big Lottery Scotland.

A spokesperson from East Dunbartonshire Voluntary Action said: “The funding from the lottery’s Life Transitions Programme will provide the group with five years of stability for their new project, Twechar Landscapes Futures.

“This project will provide vulnerable young people from East Dunbartonshire and North Lanarkshire with a training and employment programme to improve their work, educational and volunteering opportunities.

“The group will offer a mix of practical work experience, life skills training, education and professional qualifications, and support.”
