Report puts district’s streets in the top six

A recent report has ranked the streets in East Dunbartonshire as sixth best in the country.

Compiled by the Improvement Scheme at COSLA, the study rated all 32 local authorities. Researchers employ a variety of criteria to assess the level of cleanliness, including litter, urban landscaping and the prevalence of chewing gum on the street surfaces.

Grace Irvine, director of neighbourhood services, said: “The council is happy to once again be ranked in the top performance quartile of local authorities across Scotland for the Street Cleanliness Index for 2012/13.

“However, we will not be complacent and will continually try to improve the service we offer our residents.”
