A popular crafts group has created history after securing a highly-prestigious Queen’s Award for its work in the community.

Creative Care, based in Brackenbrae House in Bishopbriggs, has received the award for Voluntary Service - the group equivalent of an MBE.

It’s the highest award which can be given to volunteer groups across the UK - recognising outstanding work in local communities - and has only ever been bestowed once before within East Dunbartonshire.

East Dunbartonshire Council welcomed members of Creative Care to a civic reception at the Marina HQ recently, where they were presented with the honour by The Queen’s local representative, Lord Lieutenant Rear Admiral Michael Gregory OBE.
