Rural funding cash is up for grabs

Fresh funding is being made available to boost rural development and improve quality of life in East Dunbartonshire.

The Kelvin Valley & Falkirk LEADER 2014-2020 programme is being launched later this week.

It’s a European Union initiative aimed at promoting economic and community development within rural areas - including Twechar, Torrance, Lennoxtown, Milton of Campsie and Kirkintilloch (to the north of the Forth & Clyde Canal).

There’s £2.8million up for grabs, with grants ranging from £5,000 to £125,000 for projects concerning heritage, tourism, leisure, commuity services and local employment.

A launch event at Colzium House, in Kilsyth, on Thursday, October 29, at 5.30pm will provide more information for potential applicants. Register online at
