A special event aimed at encouraging younger and older generations to get to know each other better was held recently.

‘Connecting Generations’ was organised by the East Dunbartonshire Generations Working Together Network at Kirkintilloch Baptist Church, with help from a number of local organisation.

Over 120 people took part including pupils from Turnbull High School, Bishopbriggs Academy, Lenzie Academy, Kirkintilloch High School and St Ninian’s High School.

They were joined by members of Kirkintilloch and District Seniors Forum and Bishopbriggs Seniors Forum.

Workshops were held during the day including Zumba, knitting, tablets and technology and memory boxes.

There were also performances and presentations from secondary and primary school children, an award ceremony and the chance to take part in an intergenerational quiz.

Council leader Rhondda Geekie said: “This is the second time we have held an intergenerational event of this kind and it was an absolute success. I would like to thank everyone for their participation, support and contribution to the event.”
