TWO men wanted in connection with murders in East Dunbartonshire could be holed up in Spain, it is believed.

Derek Ferguson – aka William Henderson – is sought in connection with the murder of Thomas Cameron on June 28, 2007, at the Auchinairn Tavern, Bishopbriggs.

The 47-year-old is described as 5ft 2ins, with part of his left ear missing.

Meanwhile, William Paterson (32) is wanted over the murder of Kevin ‘Gerbil’ Carroll in January 2010.

Carroll was repeatedly shot in the car park of Asda Robroyston.

Paterson (pictured) is said to be 6ft 1in tall, with blue eyes and red/auburn hair.

Both Ferguson and Paterson are described as being “dangerous and considered violent”.

UK crime-fighting charity Crimestoppers has issued a new appeal as part of the fifth anniversary of Operation Captura – a campaign targeting suspected criminals believed to be hiding in Spain.

It has teamed up with the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) in a bid to get fresh leads on “Britain’s most wanted”.

The suspects have European Arrest Warrants issued against them.

Information given to Crimestoppers can help locate these criminals so that arrests can be carried out by the Spanish police.

Lord Ashcroft, founder and chairman of Crimestoppers, said: “A small number of suspected criminals see Spain as a safe place to evade law enforcement but, thanks to the confidence the UK, Spanish and ex-pat communities have in

Crimestoppers, these individuals will not be able to escape justice for much longer.”

Andy Baker, Deputy Director for SOCA, added: “Operation Captura has proved immensely successful, not only in aiding the arrest of individuals attempting to hide amongst the ex-pat community in Spain, but also as a means of raising the profile of these individuals and making Spain a hostile environment for British criminals.”
