While cats and rabbits are always popular family pets, a local business reckons customers are in the market for something more exotic.
Creature Comforts, in Milngavie, currently have a three month old Crested Gecko looking for a home.
He will need a UV light and heatpad in his vivarium and requires to be sprayed two to three times a day with a fine mist of water.
Crested Geckos eat powdered food, waxworms, mealworms anda special jelly mixture and their life expectancy is usually about 15 to 20 years.
They like to be camouflaged so you need to provide something for them to blend in with.
Or how about a Leopard Gecko? They don’t need a UV light, eat crickets and locusts and live for about 20 years.
Creature Comforts also have a corn snake and a royal python, they both grow to about five or six feet long so they need a large vivarium, a heatpad and they shed their skin every few weeks.
Pythons eat approximately one mouse a week and they live for about 30 years or more.
Craig Gordon, assistant manager, said: “Our more unusual pets are popular but we remind people that they need proper care and they can live for a long time.”
