A BRASS band hit the high notes recently as it raised thousands of pounds during its latest fundraiser.
Fifteen members of Kirkintilloch Band raised over £3500 for the group after climbing Ben Nevis, the UK’s highest mountain, during a five hour trek earlier this month.
The team decided to take on the challenge to raise funds for the band’s up-coming trip to the British Open Championships in Birmingham in September, which showcases the UK’s top 17 brass ensembles.
The band, which recently played at G66+ Live’s Kirkintilloch 800 in the Street event, qualified for the Championships in May.
It is the second time the band has attempted to climb Britain’s highest peak to raise funds.
Allan Wardrope, the band’s manager, said: “I’m delighted with how well they’ve done, it’s a great effort.”
