St Andrew’s R.C. Church in Bearsden will start its 50th anniversary celebrations with a Christmas Eve mass at 5pm.
There will be a special prayer to inaugurate the 50th year. There will also be a Hogmanay mass, starting at 11.30pm, on December 31 followed by refreshments in the porch.
Plans are also being put in place to have a celebratory ceilidh in January, a youth retreat in March and October and another retreat to Iona or Oban in the summer.
Other events to be arranged include an organ music concert, art and photography exhibition, a Jubilee walk and official opening event of a Jubilee Garden which will be attended by pupils from St Andrew’s Primary School and other guests including Bearsden Primary, a Big Band Night, social evening, summer family barbecue and a Golden Jubilee mass in December.
There are also plans for a collaborative tapestry project with Maura McRobbie to produce a permanent reminder of the parish celebrations.
