A special two day push in support of foodbanks has collected an amazing nine trolley-loads of food in Kirkintilloch.
Customers and staff at the Sainsburys store concentrated on the effort and raised well over £500 worth of food, as well as helping a local charity raise awareness of the work it does in the community.
The shop supports food banks all year round by having a collection point at the front of the store.
A spokesman said: “Over the last two days we have had East Dunbartonshire food bank in store collecting donations and raising awareness of the need to support our local communities when the economic climate is so difficult.
“We have had a collection point for the charity at the front of store for over a year and our customers and colleagues have donated well over £5000 worth of food in this time.
“Over the last two days we have collected an amazing nine trolleys full of food and would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has given in a donation.
“We take great pride in helping our local area with your support.”
