Children and young adults with autism in East Dunbartonshire will get extra help thanks to the STV Appeal.
Community project EDICT has welcomed news of a £2,000 grant from the 2014 fundraiser, which aims to make a difference to children living in poverty in Scotland.
Latest figures show 13.2 per cent of children in East Dunbartonshire live in poverty.
Colin Campbell, chief executive of EDICT, said: “The grant will be used to buy materials for the autism spectrum children and young adults groups to help them develop social contacts and boost their sense of self-worth, which tends to be significantly underdeveloped amongst this particular group.
“In these days of severe austerity the grant from STV allows us to maintain the highest possible standards of support for these young people.”
The money donated to the STV Appeal remains in Scotland.
