Food businesses in North Lanarkshire have the best standards of hygiene in Scotland, according to a recent survey.
Which? assessed 398 local authorities across the UK using the data they submit to the Food Standards Agency (FSA) on the mumber of businesses that comply with food hygiene requirements.
This placed North Lanarkshire Council as the best performing local authority in Scotland.
Councillor Helen McKenna, the council’s convener of environmental services, said: “This is excellent news for consumers in North Lanarkshire, as well as the council and local businesses.
“Our Environmental Health Officers carry out regular inspections on all premises in North Lanarkshire that sell food.
“This report reflects the excellent work done by our Environmental Health team and the council’s commitment to ensuring the highest possible food safety standards across North Lanarkshire.”
