Teen injured on busy Mearns road

Police are seeking witnesses to an incident in Newton Mearns which left a 14-year-old boy with a broken wrist.

Officers were called to Ayr Road, at Firwood Road, just after 8am on Monday, with witnesses suggesting that a hit and run involving a 4x4 vehicle had taken place.

The teenager was taken to the Victoria Infirmary for treatment to his wrist and minor injuries, but was unable to give police a clear description of what happened.

Inspector Alan Dickson, of Giffnock police station, told The Extra: “The area would have been busy at the time, and we’re appealing for any more witnesses who saw what happened to come forward.”

Anyone with information is asked to call non-emergency number 101.
