THE traditional torchlight procession, beacon service and family ceilidh will take place in Bishopbriggs on Hogmanay.

Bishopbriggs Community Council has announced details of this year's celebration, taking place on Friday, December 31.

Participants are asked to meet outside Poppies in the town centre from 6.45pm.

The torchlight procession will make its way via the underpass to the beacon-lighting ceremony in front of the library.

Glow sticks will be available for children or you can take your own lantern.

There will also be a family ceilidh at 8pm in Kenmure Church Hall, followed by light refreshments in Cadder Church Hall.

In the event of poor weather, the beacon service will be held indoors in Cadder South Hall.

Meanwhile, tickets for Kirkintilloch Players' latest pantomime are going fast.

More than 80 per cent of tickets for Cinderella, at Lenzie Public Hall from January 15-22, have already been snapped up from the Old Sweetie Shop, in Kirkintilloch town centre.
