Craigdhu Primary School has received a glowing report from HM Inspectorate of

Education after a recent

inspection of the school.

The report shows that the Milngavie school has continued to improve its performance and provides a very good learning experience for the children who attend the school.

The children are described as enjoying their experiences in school and engaging enthusiastically in their learning.

It also says that there is a high standard of achievement in reading, writing and mathematics.

Inspectors observed that pupils liked more active approaches to learning, for example, younger children were using the outdoors to select, sort and count objects.

Headteacher, Rebecca Murdoch, said: “I am very proud that the report recognises that we are a wonderful school. The pupils have been acknowledged for their hard work, high attainment, very good behaviour and pride in their school.

“The very strong support and involvement of our parents is appreciated and the whole team of staff is shown to be hardworking and fully committed to ensuring that we do the best for every child.

“We are very lucky to have such a lovely school with such a fabulous outdoor space. Thank you to everyone for making Craigdhu such a happy place to be.”

The report describes the head teacher, Rebecca Murdoch, as being very experienced and committed to the continuous improvement of Craigdhu Primary School.

She is very well respected by the whole school community and is supported well by her depute head teacher and principal teacher.

Teachers at the school were reported as being very hard working and committed to providing the best for the children in the school.

Former convener of education Councillor Gotts, added: “It is not surprising that Craigdhu Primary did well in this inspection – the school is a very inclusive learning environment and has a very supportive ethos.

“On my visits I always find the pupils and teachers to be most welcoming. This is a great start to the year and I look forward to seeing the school building on this success in the future.”
