Residents have been finding out about what services will be on offer at the new Lennoxtown community hub – set to open in January next year.
Over 40 people attended an information session at Campsie Memorial Hall on Wednesday, June 3 to get an update on the work taking place on the £5.29m Hub.
The range of services available will include payment kiosks for council services, accepting and validating application forms including taxis and civic licences, blue badge applications, and registration of births and deaths.
Ena Young, from Lennoxtown, attended the event and said: “I use the Hub in Kirkintilloch at the moment and it will be great to have something similar in Lennoxtown. It will be a very positive addition to the town.”
The first Hub facility was opened at the William Patrick Library building in Kirkintilloch in August 2012.
Council leader Rhondda Geekie said: “The development of the new facility will see major investment by the council within Lennoxtown and it was encouraging to hear such positive feedback from the local community about our plans. The new community hub will provide everyone in Lennoxtown with a facility they will be proud of and the Council is committed to keeping people up-dated as to how the proposals are progressing.”
