Weather postpones charity flight for two would-be pilots

A flying adventure for two local people has had to be postponed due to bad weather.

Gerard Brown from Moodiesburn and William Maphausen from Kilsyth were due to take part in a charity fundraising seaplane flight, which was expected to touch down in Strathclyde Loch on Thursday.

The relay challenge is to visit every county in Scotland, with each leg being flown by a disabled pilot, or one under instruction.

Gerard (43) attends the St Barbara’s Club in Muirhead, and was nominated for the challenge by Councillor John McLaren.

William (26) is a garden centre owner and bus driver from Kilsyth. He has hydromobile joints. He’s only flown once before but is applying for an FSDP scholarship.
