A KIRKINTILLOCH couple were the toast of telly viewers after getting hitched in a very unusual way.
John and Jackie Clark’s big day was featured in the BBC Three show Don’t Tell the Bride – watched by more than 1.2million viewers.
The programme sees the groom take control of the wedding arrangements - organising everything including the venue, cake, wedding dress, hen night and stag do - all on a budget of £12,000.
John (29) and Jackie (31) first met at a party in Kirkintilloch Miners Welfare Club. The social club is John’s favourite local, so he thought it would be ideal to have the wedding reception there.
He even chose a Christmas theme as it’s Jackie’s favourite time of year.
And to top it off, John organised a 10,000ft parachcute jump for Jackie before the ceremony in Strathallan Castle, back in May.
John said: “It was about having a dream wedding, not your usual wedding.
“We all had an absolute ball in the Miners, I’ve never seen it look so good.
“A couple of days before the wedding I did have a mini meltdown and thought it would be a disaster, but it all came together well.”
John surprised Jackie by flying in her best friend, Rosie, from Australia.
He added: “We had a wee party to watch the show on TV. I thought it was brilliant and everyone loved it.”
