Detectives are appealing for information after a woman was robbed in the Milngavie area on Thursday (October 29).
Around 1.30pm, the 63-year-old left the Tesco supermarket to walk along the footpath into Lennox Park.
Once in the park she was grabbed by a man who took her handbag.
The contents were later found discarded and the handbag was also recovered.
The man is described as around 25 years old, of Eastern European appearance, stocky build, light brown wavy hair, clean shaven with a round face. He was wearing a black waist length jacket and blue jeans.
The man was last seen heading towards the football pitch at Lennox Park near to the railway line.
Detective Constable Scott McNulty said: “Thankfully the victim was not hurt, however, this was still a terrifying experience and she has been left badly shaken.
“We believe the suspect slipped while running up a grass embankment in the park and so he may have had mud on his hands and knees.
“I would like to reassure the community that this type of incident is very rare. Nevertheless, we will have additional patrols in the area to reassure people and we have dedicated specialist officers investigating this incident.
“I would urge anyone who recognises a man matching the description or who saw anything suspicious to contact police on 101.
