World’s Biggest Coffee Morning to return to Clydesdale

Leading charity Macmillan Cancer Support is urging firms across Lanarkshire to help it raise a record-breaking £8.5 million...by letting staff enjoy coffee and cake.

The charity wants as many local firms as possible to take part in this year’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning to make it the biggest ever in the event’s 21-year history.

The official coffee morning day is September 30 but Macmillan want businesses to take part whenever they can this month.

Already signed up for the challenge is Derek Campbell from Verve Bodyshop in Carluke.

He said: “Almost everyone in our company has been touched by cancer in some way so the staff were all very keen to do something to help Macmillan.

“The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning was the perfect event for us to get involved in and I would urge other businesses to seriously consider taking part.

“The event allowed staff to raise money for a great cause while getting the chance to chat outside of their normal working environment.

“We also found that our support for Macmillan struck a chord with customers because so many people know someone who has had cancer. “
