Bowling club taking steps towards vision of bright future with Specsavers sponsorship

Stepps Bowling Club has been bowled over by the support from a nearby opticians, after signing a year-long sponsorship deal with Specsavers Glasgow Fort.

The store has donated £1,000 to help fund the Stepps lawn bowling green and pay for maintenance of the club house.

The deal comes as part of the new hi-tech store’s ongoing investment in the local community. The local club will also benefit from discounted specs as part of the store’s commitment to keeping the bowlers’ eyesight in good condition.

Established in 1905, the club accommodates more than 80 members along with the Stepps Tigers, the club’s junior bowls team.

Club president Eric Brand said: “We would like to thank Specsavers for its sponsorship. Local support is key to our success, so having Specsavers Glasgow Fort on board is great for the club and makes its upkeep possible.

Catriona Pinkerton, store director of Specsavers Glasgow Fort, said: ‘Stepps Bowling Club is well known in the local community, and a worthy recipient of our support. We are very keen to help local groups to flourish and are proud to have partnered with the bowling club and its members.’
