THE debut of a new Rob Roy superstar signing wasn’t enough to save Rob Roy from a 3-0 league thrashing on Saturday.
Rangers legend Marvin Andrews lined up for Rabs against Clydebank, but the team’s recent defensive frailties continued.
Manager Jimmy Lindsay said: “If we had scored early doors it might have been different. We played really well in the first 20 minutes then they counter-attacked and got a goal. That was the story of the game and we just aren’t creating enough chances which is something we will address this week.”
But he was full of praise for his latest signing, saying: “Marvin was great both on and off the pitch.
“The boys will learn a lot from him.”
This weekend Rabs take on Auchinleck in the second round of the Emirates Scottish Cup at Adamslie Park. Kick-off is at 2.30pm.
Meanwhile Rossvale manager Ian Gray was left frustrated after his team’s league game against Wishaw Juniors was postponed – the fourth such cancellation this season.
Gray said: “The fact we are not getting a decent run of games together against teams of a similar standard means we don’t even have an idea of how we are progressing.”
This Saturday Rossvale travel to Clydebank for the second round of the Emirates cup.
Kick-off is at 2.30pm.
