St. Pat’s 1
Harestanes completed a satisfying week of league victories with a more than comfortable victory.
The final difference between the two sides could have been higher with near misses and the striking of the woodwork.
Harestanes got off to the best of starts with a goal in the second minute.
Young collected the ball wide left, moved forward, played a measured pass to the feet of McLaughlin who arrowed it in to the right corner.
Mclaughlin played a major role in the second goal. In a crowded box, he collected, turned and shot.
The ball cracked off the bar and on came Fitzsimmons to drive home his first of four.
He scored his second with a free kick, 20-yards out.
At the other end Dumbarton were denied a certainty as O’Boyle tipped a net-bound curler over.
Young should have made it four with a header from a decent Cairney cross. But, with the goal yawning, he managed to head wide.
McLaughlin came close with a shot he worked hard to create, but it was just wide of the far post.
Broadfoot was unfortunate not to score when he rounded the keeper, but shot off the post from a tight angle.
McLaughlin was also unlucky with a header which came off the post.
Broadfoot took the fourth at the start of the second half. He jinked along the 18 yard line and sent an exquisite ball into the top left corner.
Young made the fifth with a perfect cross that made use of the wind to find the head of Fitzsimmons to allow for a powerful header to bullet home.
Broadfoot was again unlucky with a shot from a Black cross which came off the post.
Dumbarton did pull one back rather dubiously when the ball appeared to be kicked out of O’Boyle’s grasp.
Fitzsimmons rounded the match off when through with only the keeper to beat.
