Good news for Rob Roy and Petershill...

ROB Roy have marched into the quarter finals of the Central League Cup.

Rabs looked to be on easy street as they took a 4-0 lead into the last half hour of the tie against fellow Premier Division side Ashfield.

But three goals in 10 minutes set up a nerve-jangling end to the match – only settled by a last-gasp David Gormley strike which saw the Kirkintilloch team emerge 5-3 winners.

Meanwhile, Petershill were thrown a lifeline at the weekend after their title-chasing rivals Irvine Meadow XI lost.

Co-manager Scott Smith said: “To be fair I think they need to lose a couple more games – it is too early for us to get excited.”

And Bishopbriggs side Rossvale were beaten 3-1 by Maryhill last Tuesday. They play their final game of the season at Petershill Park this Saturday – kick-off at 2pm.
