The visitors’ opening goal in the 15th minute actually resulted from a Rob Roy corner.

It came to nothing and the home side were then unable to prevent the Bankies sweeping upfield on a counter-attack which ended with former Rob Roy favourite Lee Gallacher crossing for Ciaran Mulcahy to beat Matthew Kerr with a looping header which went in off the crossbar.

The visitors doubled their lead in the 28th minute, with the home side again only having themselves to blame.

Skipper Scott Walker was short with a header back to Kerr and Gallacher took full advantage, nipping in and squaring the ball to Chris Black who had a simple tap-in.

Clydebank, who had arrived at Guy’s Meadow on the back of wins in each of their opening three games, more or less sealed a fourth straight win with another goal five minutes later.

However, there was more than an element of good fortune about this one as a Conor Lynass free-kick took a deflection off one of his own team-mates and flew past the helpless Kerr.

Rob Roy were better after the break, but Clydebank held them at bay before putting the seal on their victory near the end, Ross McPherson knocking home the rebound after a Gallacher free-kick came off the bar.

Next for Rob Roy on Saturday is a trip to Dundonald Bluebell in the SoccerShop Challenge Cup.
