Rob Roy make their competitive bow on Saturday when they take on ‘landlords’ Cumbernauld United in their opening exselgroup Sectional League Cup match.
The match is technically an away for Stewart Maxwell’s side agains the side whose Guy’s Meadow ground they currently share.
Although honing his side for the start of the league campaign later this month is Maxwell’s priority, the Rabs boss is hoping for a decent run in the competiton again - last year they won the group and went on to the semi-finals.
Maxwell said: “It’s a competitive match and Cumbernauld always give us a a good game.
“We probably should have got to the final last year and it would be great for the supporters to get a good run in the competition again.”
The match will also be a poignant affair as the clubs will play for a trophy in memory of Carol Brown.
Carol, who died suddenly earlier this year, worked behind the bar at the Hat-Trix complex and was well known to both clubs.
Cumbernauld United chairman George Watson said: “It has been decided that Saturday’s match will be contested for the Carol Brown Memorial Shield and we would hope this will be an annual event.
“Carol’s sudden passing was a shock to us all and it’s a fitting tribute that her memory will live on for the clubs she looked after so well on match days.”
In the other group match on Saturday Rossvale - in their first full season under Brian McGinty - travel to face Kilsyth Rangers.
Rossvale, who went down 2-1 at Renfrew on Wednesday night in their final warm-up match, have added ex-Bellshill Athletic and Shotts Bon Accord defender Anton McDowall and ex-Irvine Meadow wideman Stephen Seaton to their squad for the coming campaign.
