WITH winter weather decimating local sport during December, hopes are high that January will see a welcome return to action for the many local sports enthusiasts.
Rugby, football and athletics clubs are all desperate to banish the winter blues by getting active again in 2012.
Rob Roy FC have been trying to play Banks O'Dee in the Scottish Cup for the past month, only to be stymied by snow and ice.
Campsie Black Watch have also been left cooling their heels, with no game for the under-21s side since November 20.
Lenzie Rugby Club and Allan Glen's RFC have also suffered call-offs due to the Arctic conditions, while local athletes have been finding it tough to train.
