Impressive win for Glens

Helensburgh 13

Allan Glen’s 26

Glens made a good start when Frame drove over after just three minutes. Thomson converted.

It wasn’t long, however, before the hosts replied with a penalty by Grake.

Glens’ forwards were going well winning the scrums and holding their own in the lineout, but it was another 15 minutes before they could turn pressure into points when scrum half Thomson touched down after a 20 meter driving maul by his forwards.

The visitors followed this up with another superb penalty from the halfway line by Thomson, making a half time score of 3 - 15.

Glens continued to take the initiative after the restart and very quickly added another try by Murrell, who has been enjoying his switch from centre to wing forward.

Thomson picked up another two penalties within the next 10 minutes making the game begin to look like a rout.

Up until this point the Glens defence had been solid, but 15 minutes from time Helensburgh finally woke up and scored two tries within 7 minutes - one through a good run by Jake and another when Greggain barged through to score.

For Glen’s Hearns and Murrell showed up well along with veteran centre Andy Johnston.

Next week Glen’s take on league leaders Carrick at home, who have not yet lost a game.
