Scotia Swimming Club member Ruairi McKinnon struck gold when he won the under-12 years 50 metres freestyle at the recent Scottish Schools Championships.
Ruairi took the title in a time of 28.90 seconds which also won him the boys’ best individual performance at the championships.
Scotia clubmate Graham Baird finished ninth in the 13-14 years 100m freestyle.
Graham and Ross Campbell also enjoyed success at the West District Championships where they picked up bronze medals.
The Bishopbriggs club’s recent annual prizegiving highlighted the improvement of the quality of the swimmers within the club as it celebrated 27 club speed records being broken over the past 12 months.
This included the 50m backstroke mark broken by Ross Campbell which had stood since 1997.
Also highlighted were up and coming swimmers Caitlin McLeod, Fraser Baird, Layla Boni, Ben Watchorn, Olivia Boni and David Docherty whose times had improved the most over the past 12 months in all strokes.
The club has also offered its condolences to the family of Scotia ASC Alex McClintock who recently passed away.
He was awarded an MBE for services to sport in the Bishopbriggs area and the club says his efforts for his community live on within Scotia and he will not be forgotten.
